1 Corinthians 2:14.KJV. 
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
It was brother Calvin that said "man can never come to the perfect knowledge of his great creator- The Redeemer unless God Himself breaks through the iron curtain Man has erected around himself as idols- power, prestige, pleasure, success, science and most of all, the sacred cow of human reasoning"
Do not use your brain to rationalize your communication with the Holy Spirit, get spiritual sense and obey Him because you may lose out of the equation.
The Lord warns. Just making an uncommon spiritual sense.

Take time to do what you are doing, you are not competing with anyone. Allow your root to go deep down in to the word so that you can stand the test of time. The Lord reminds.
